United Engine Corporation sees PD-35 engine cost at $3 bln

PERM, Aug 9 (PRIME) -- The cost of development of an advanced PD-35 aviation engine will amount to U.S. $3 billion, Alexander Inozemtsev, managing director at United Engine Corporation’s subsidiary UEC-Aviadvigatel (UEC Aviation Engine), told reporters on Friday.

“We have earmarked $3 billion for creation of PD-35,” he said.

The company plans to participate in a joint Russian–Chinese creation of CR-929 wide-bodied aircraft and contribute the PD-35 engine to the plane, he said.

He also said that Russian state customers plan to buy 300 more PD-14 aviation engines. Currently, Aeroflot has ordered 50 MC-21 planes propelled by the PD-14 engine, he said.

Chinese customers are also interested in the PD-14 engine. “They express interest in our PD-14, they are to visit us and discuss it next week,” he said.
